One of the fastest ways of progressing in your career pursuit is to earn a certification. There are many industry-specific credentials that you can look into to give you a more prospective outlook in the job market. For instance, if you work in the IT industry or you work on a computer in areas such as systems administration, server environment, or computer security, you should consider earning CompTIA credential. CompTIA certifications are some of the most popular and powerful vendor-neutral credentials in the world of IT.

If you are considering pursuing certification from CompTIA, we listed some of the most sought-after credentials provided by this vendor. Let’s start with the basic one.

CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ certification is a well-known and well-respected credential in the IT field. If you are just starting your career, this certification is a perfect choice for you. With CompTIA A+ certification, you can build your career in practically any field. The credential is designed to evaluate an individual’s competency in the technical areas of a computer system. It covers numerous operating systems created by Microsoft, Novell, IBM, and Apple. It also includes other types of technologies. For many employers, CompTIA A+ Certification Practice Tests is the standard requirement for any computer support technician jobs.

With this credential, you can showcase your competency and proficiency as an expert in a computer system. CompTIA A+ is globally recognized and accepted. It validates that the candidate is proficient in areas such as installation, troubleshooting, security, networking, and preventive maintenance of a wide range of technologies and operating systems.

All CompTIA certifications require passing one or a few exams. For example, A+ certification can be obtained through the passing of two tests: 220-901 and 220-902.

220-901 exam covers connectivity issues and hardware for PC, peripherals, and mobile devices.

220-902 exam is concentrated on the installation and configuration of the operating systems such as Linux, Windows, Apple OS X, iOS, and Android. The exam also includes fundamentals of operational procedures and cloud computing.

CompTIA Network+

This is another popular credential among the CompTIA certifications for entry-level professionals in the Information Technology industry. If you are interested in getting a job position as an IT support, then you should consider this certification. The credential focuses on a broad spectrum of fundamental networking skills that are far above than the skills obtainable under CompTIA A+. Network+ certification is designed to validate an individual’s capacity and expertise in the maintenance, management, troubleshooting, configuration, and installation of primary network infrastructure.

Just like A+, Network+ is an entry-level credential. Therefore, if you are just starting out in IT career, you can consider earning this certification to give you a good start in your career growth. Although it is an entry-level credential, CompTIA recommends that you earn A+ certification before you go ahead to earn Network+. In addition to this, it is also recommended that you have a minimum of 9 months of experience in academic training, network administration, or network support. With A+ credential as your foundation, you will find Network+ easy to work through. Before you sign up for the exam, it is essential that you take time to study some relevant resource materials as well as practice exam questions in preparation for the test.

CompTIA Security+

Security+ certification is designed for professionals who work in the network security area. If you are interested in building a career in network security, then you should consider earning this certification. This credential validates your competence in security, network infrastructure, access control, and organization security. The certification is no doubt a great boost to your current Network+ credential because it builds on your knowledge of networking by focusing on integral parts of security. It is no news that there is a high demand for security experts in IT, and this is basically because of the magnitude and severity of threats that computer security is constantly facing. Earning this certification clearly position you in the perfect light to be considered for a networking security job.

CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner

CASP certification is a top-level certification that is in high demand among professionals and organizations alike. The credential covers different risk areas such as enterprise security, risk analysis, and managing risk & forecasting. Enterprise security is a very significant aspect of the CASP credential – basically because it offers professionals the practical experience needed to manage SMEs and large organizations. CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certification is designed to validate the individual’s high-level skills and knowledge in areas of computer security. The certification is globally recognized and accepted. It is also vendor-neutral and it certifies that the specialist is proficient in computing integration, enterprise security, business disciplines, and communication.

CompTIA Server+

CompTIA Server+ credential is designed for professionals who want to carve a niche for themselves in server support. If you are planning on getting your career started in this field, earning Server+ certification is definitely the perfect starting point for you. The certification is aimed at system administrators who need to be well-equipped with the knowledge and technical skills required for building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting hardware technologies and server software. Server+ is a mid-level certification and it covers advanced computer concepts. It is designed for professionals with about 2 years of working experience in a server environment.

Before you earn this certification, CompTIA recommends that you first earn A+. This will allow you to have a firm foundation for Server+ and other CompTIA credentials. With the certifications such as A+, Network+, and Server+, you can showcase your excellent expertise in computing to your potential hiring manager. To pass Server+ exam, you will be required to take the traditional format test that focuses on various server issues such as installation, configuration, maintenance, disaster recovery, upgrading, and many others. It is therefore important to develop competence in these areas before you register for Server+ certification exam.

Preparation options for CompTIA exams

If you already decided what certification you want to pursue, now you need to think about the preparation material. Apart from books and official courses, we strongly recommend you to consider exam dumps. These materials will help you to assess tour test-taking ability and learn how to tackle the exam questions of different format.

Conclusion

All the aforementioned certifications are excellent ways of starting your career in the Information Technology industry. From this stage, you can go ahead to earn other certifications such as Microsoft MCSA. There are numerous resource materials that you can use to prepare for your CompTIA certification exam whether it is 220-901, 220-902, or any other. It is also important that you take a practice test to help you evaluate your readiness to take the real exam. In case you don’t pass the test at your first attempt, do not give up. Study more and go back to retake the exam.
